Toning It Down: Embracing a Simple Color Palette

One of the most common questions we get is, “Why isn’t your phone or website more colorful?” Bright colors are often used to grab the attention of kids. After all, isn’t that what kids need? Bright colors, fun designs, and eye-catching visuals?

But phones are already plenty good at grabbing kids’ attention. Many of us have seen the way young kids’ eyes light up when they look at an adult’s phone even if they just look at the light. Children get so engrossed in the screen that transitioning away from it can be tough.

At Privo Mobile, we designed our phones with a specific purpose in mind —  communication. Our goal is not to create a device that keeps kids glued to their screens but to provide a tool for calling or texting. By keeping the design simple and the colors muted, we focus on the essentials. We’re not trying to compete with the flashy games or apps that are designed to keep kids hooked. Instead, we’re offering a phone that encourages kids to use it for what it’s intended for and then easily put it away.

Our approach isn’t about making the phone less appealing (at least not entirely); it’s about making it a tool and not a toy. We want to ensure that when kids use a Privo Mobile phone, they’re using it with purpose, not just for the sake of staying on a colorful screen.
